It is important to stretch muscles to:

** Increase the range of movment in joints
** Improve muscle balance and posture
** Lower the risk of injury
** Minimise muscle tightness after exercise

Below you will find our top 8 guidelines for stretching.

You should:

1. Ideally, stretch on a daily basis.

2. Be warm – (a 3-5min walk will adequately warm the body and muscles).

3. Know the correct techniques – have one of our fitness specialists guide you.

4. Avoid bouncing limbs to increase the stretch.

5. Target entire body, to ensure muscle balance.

6. Hold each stretch for 10-30sec and repeat 2-3 times.

7. relax into the stretch.

8. Take relaxed, slow and deep breathes whilst in a stretch

 It's a great idea to incorporate a stretch class, yoga or pilates training into your regime.
